8 - 10 : Walk 5 km with a 5kg backpack

11 - 14 : Find stairs or a hill. Walk for 1 hour with a 10kg+ backpack.

The Locking Technique (Step-by-Step)

1. Kick the Heel Back: Before you start lacing, kick your heel against the ground so it’s firmly seated in the back of the boot.

2. The Surgeon’s Knot: Lace the bottom eyelets as usual. Just before you reach the first metal hook (at the bend of your ankle), cross the laces over each other twice instead of once. Pull it tight. This "locks" the tension in the toe area so it won't loosen.

3. Engage the Blocker Hook: Pull the laces into the self-locking/blocker hook on the MT100. You will feel it "click" or grab the lace. This is the most important part—it separates the tension of the foot from the tension of the ankle.

4. The "Top-Down" Finish: For the final two top hooks, instead of lacing from the bottom up, hook the laces from the top down. This creates a "web" that pushes your ankle back and down into the heel cup.
