Key Rules for Success

  • For YouTube: Uploading in 4K is mandatory even if your footage is 1080p. It forces YouTube to use a higher-quality playback codec (VP9/AV1), making your video look significantly sharper.
  • For Instagram: Less is more. If you feed Instagram a massive 100 Mbps file, its internal "shredder" will make it look muddy. Stick to 15 Mbps to keep the compression clean.
  • Clip Length: Keep Instagram Reels under 3 minutes if you want them to reach new people; YouTube can handle hours of content, but ensure your bitrate stays high enough to support the length.

One final check: In the "Render Settings" under the Advanced Settings dropdown, make sure "Retain sub-black and super-white data" is unchecked for these platforms to avoid weird color shifts!
